"Brother By Blood"

Ten years ago, Kori the elf mage and Griff, his human best friend since childhood, were part of a ragtag group of teenage allies who ousted a despotic king and helped the rightful young heir assume the throne. Now, several weddings and diplomatic stressors later, that ragtag group is cracking apart, and Kori will do anything to make sure that his brotherhood with Griff - though unrelated by blood - will survive the strain of the passing years if nothing else will.

It's 1862 in the English countryside and the new-money Bartlett family has gathered for a reunion. Young Ernest Rhodes, soon to marry in despite his own mother's wishes, recounts the proceedings of the evening - as well as the bitter and complex aftermath when a theft is discovered the next day. Indeed, it may turn out that Ernest has a greater role to play in the Bartlett's affairs than anyone had suspected.

While Henry chases the unification of his country in a Union artillery regiment, Libby chases a brand-new life's purpose on a homefront grappling with the changes war has wrought. Only time will tell if the war will reunite them and their emerging goals - or if the overwhelming changes will tear the former lovers apart for good.
